Found an interesting article about an office building that lost its retail tenants over time, and in order to create a sense of liveliness, they made fake storefronts:
Apparently this tactic is common in Northern Ireland .
I have no idea if it actually works or would be appropriate for mixed use multifamily developments that have similar vacancies, but I thought I would share. Here is the original article .
