While there are a number of real estate initial public offerings coming to market or in the pipeline, the appetite for them will vary, widely in some cases, depending on the property type, management team and valuations, says Bob Steers, co-chairman and co-CEO of Cohen and Steers. Appetite will, or at least should, vary for the blind pools that jumped into the market earlier this year, he adds.
"It would be possible for more blind pools to get done but only if they are focused on an asset class that is underrepresented and the management team is very experienced," Steers said.
