This is addressed to upper hiring manager's, HR, or other hiring personnel. Is there any one thing that would grab your attention enough to give an applicant the upper edge during the interview process? For example: shopping said property before interview, having reference letters readily available, etc. What impressed you the most from that applicant?

I nailed an interview and beat out my close friend with more experience with 2 things, according to the regional manager interviewing me:

1. I didn't "babble" or have empty conversation.

2. I did an extensive market survey on the property with photos of the competition. I really did my homework on the property.

Kimberley, you will get many opinions and they will more than likely all be right based on those individuals experience. The key thing Sandy brought up was the research and not babbling.

Appearance is also very important. What one is wearing; is it in good taste and professional? The areas placed on your resume, do they match what is being looked for and do you have the stated experience?

Do not guess at an answer, you either know it or you do not!

I agree, research is very important. I like to shop the property before the interview and the surrounding communities. And of course dressing for the job you want is important. Love the input! :)
