If you were a Yardi Pro user, have you upgraded to Genesis? Voyager? Another program/portal (i.e. Propertyware, Appfolio, Onesite, etc)?

Please share your experience with the new program and why you chose the program you did. We need to make an upgrade soon because new OS cannot run Yardi Pro. Thanks for your input.

Geoffrey,
Do you have twitter? Would you like me to tweet it out and see what kind of responses I get from the people (mostly multifamily and/or green) and see what comes back?

That would be great! Then, when I'm done figuring out which program to buy, I'll have time to find out more about your products - looks interesting.

Geoffrey,
You make me wish I had a product to sell!

There seems to be a lot of positive buzz about AppFolio. . .

Good luck and I will keep you up to date on anything suggestions I get back.

Geoffrey, wouldn't be a bad idea to contact some Yardi users that mix and match different pieces to other pieces.

May want to check with J.Wollinger at WINN Res. in Boston, or J.Staciokas at LPC in DFW. They can offer hands on solutions both within and without Yardi's system. GreenLady's suggestion about MultifamilyInsiders.com is a great one - will elicit response from many sectors, a combo of Owner Managers as well as Vendors.

And who knows...Yardi, just might contact you to try to resolve the issue.

Geoffrey:

This is a big decision. I would recommend going to the Yardi Conference in Santa Barbara - which is usually in September, or joining a Yardi user-group and getting feedback form others who may have a similar set-up & needs as you.

I have been an avid Yardi user for years, and LOVEit, but wouldn't recommend it for everyone. It's extremely robust package, and you really need to not only understand your needs, but the needs of your company, as well as the capabilities of your internal staff to learn, interact, and support the software.

I've attended the conference several times, and always learn TONS of great things from the people there AND through meeting others. The most valuable interactions, have been with other yardi users that have similar business models/needs as me. For instance, do you do student housing? Do you have a need to track traffic? Do you need PO's? Do you have a need for their affordable model? What kind of reporting requirements do you need? How much flixibility in reporting do you need?

Have a list of questions ready so you can go find the answers!

We are using Yardi Voyager...love it! Can specialize reports which is very important in the 3rd party managment biz. Although at times we do sing in the office "Yardi, Yardi ain't no party" But, overall highly recommend the software.

I am both an ex and present Yardi user. My present assignment has reminded me of all the aspects of Yardi I couldn't stand.

I operate in the Ontario, Canada multi-family rental market (as well as commercial and shopping centre). Handling our rent regulation system is a prime requirement. Yardi barely does that. There are various paralegal forms that simply cannot be produced.

Notwithstanding that the Genesis system my company uses is probably not comparable with the Voyager or Enterprise versions it still comes in at a ridiculous price point. I can find other systems that are equally if not more dependable, can facilitate paperless operations, provide more meaningful operations information and deliver it at a fraction of Yardi's cost.
