Training Trivia

It is wise and acceptable to use a criminal background check to eliminate any candidates with a criminal record prior to getting to final interviews when hiring.

I am trying something new for our portfolio in the way of content sharing and internal networking for our residential communities. The Operations Support network is open to service providers and The Goodman Group portfolio to share information, ask questions and update web content. Please feel free to upload appropriate content for sharing and review.

I've already connected our internet advertisers and am continuing to build content that they can utilize for our property listings.  This summer I am going to promote this resource to our site staffs and hopefully in time our residents to use in conjunction with our website's resident portals and Facebook listings.

I've been closely following the postings on Multi-Family Insiders and it seems that this experiment in resource sharing and networking works.  I see a potential for a responsible transparency in the way we interact with service providers, staff and residents that can be healthy and productive.

Thank you to all of you who took the leap into these new mediums and have paved the way for the rest of us who feared Apartmentratings.com and feared what people actually may say about us.  We have feared it because we have had little to no transparency in the way we do business and as a result residents believe we are the "bid bad landlord".  We let them believe that.  We have been disconnected...just a notice put under door and all policy.  With these new tools we are turning a corner in the multi-family industry and I am excited to be a part of it.

Please let me know what you think of our young network, FEEDBACK is what it is all about...at all levels.  Again thanks so much.

I applaud your leap of faith, Matt! The only way to find out if these new platforms work for you and your portfolio is to try them. Not to use the overused cliche from Nike but it fits - Just Do It. Be ready to tweak it based on the communities feedback and above all - participate.

Have a great weekend.

Matt, Good Morning
I mirror Mikes comments above, Great Job! I am pretty sure you and your company will find much benefit in this new direction. I can tell you it is a transformation from old ways and means.

Here's the thing too, residents and others are already talking about you/us anyway. Participating in the Conversation only enhances your position.

Good Luck, and we are always happy to share what we have learned along the path if it is helpful, don't hesitate to ask,

Good luck Matt! I like your site but be careful what you wish for! If you want feedback, here goes:

Upon signing up, what is the purpose of requiring the birth date? People may not like to give away unnecessary information.
I know you want to post it, but it should be optional.

If you consider this an 'open network', then I suggest removing the approval pending for joining. Unlike LinkedIn and Facebook Groups, people have a desire for instant gratification or they will move on.

On the positive:

I really like the photos and videos sections. (You listening Brent? LOL)

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share our feedback on mfinsiders.

Hmmmmmm, well okay, if instant gratification is what is wanted then I guess I will not get in the way. Forgive me, but I still snap back into the need to control access and content. Having started in software administration, old property managment habits die hard.

Thanks for the feedback. This site is still very young and just like a parent, I am standing at the bus stop with tears in my eyes thinking how fast time goes by. I'll have to let the young social network go explore the world for it to properly function. I just hope the other kids play nice with her.
