You did what with your company provided VTO?! Random Acts of Kindness.

Steadfast has rolled out two days of VTO to each for each associate to go into the community to "do good as we do well" in 2017. Now that we have been trusted with these hours, what should we do with it?

Beach or park in your community needs cleaning up? VTO. Soup kitchen needs meal prep? VTO. As long as you're out in the community helping others, it's VTO! Not sure what to do? Go to https://www.volunteermatch.org and you can find opportunities based on what you're passionate about.

One Steadfast associate took VTO for her 48th birthday to provide 48 random acts of kindness in the community. How did she do 48 random acts of kindness in a day? We wondered, too. So, we asked …

  • Provided 100 breakfast burritos during the morning shift at the cold weather homeless shelter, sending them off with a warm breakfast in their belly
  • Gave 40 lunch sacks to homeless people
  • Created 50 Valentine's Day goodie bags for a local children's home
  • Bought breakfast and lunch for (many) strangers (who were strangers no longer) at local restaurants
  • Delivered flowers to the local senior center
  • Provided local Police and Fire Departments with yummy cookies
  • Left quarters at the laundromat
  • Returned carts at the grocery store
  • And many, many more …

In one day this associate touched hundreds of lives. But what did she get in return? She received a marriage proposal, made some new great friends and had, in her words, "One of the best days ever!"

That's what VTO meant to this Steadfast associate and her community. What does it mean to you? What do you hope to accomplish this year?
