I've hired a new leasing consultant to start on Monday. She is new to the industry and I need to get her fair housing certified ASAP and my state requires it to lease apartments. I checked all the local programs but the dates are too far away! Any suggestions on a good online course?

I have done both the Grace Hill course and the one offered by Housing Credit College (but I would do the Housing Credit College program if you are an affordable property). Go to: training.housingcredits.com/Groups/Confi...DiPRUmf_DgHzI.rOK9fz

Good morning, we'd love to be of assistance. We offer a comprehensive online Fair Housing course in both English and Spanish. Your new-hire can complete this course from wherever they are; all they need is a high speed Internet connection. Here is a link to a video demo of this course:

And, please visit us here for more information on Fair Housing and the dozens of other online property management courses we offer:

I've taken the Grace Hill fair housing class twice and it's very good (we repeat the important classes annually.) The multiple ways they present and review the information helps people with different learning styles retain the information long-term.

I've been following this thread and took a look at their offerings. I'd be interested in taking a number of these classes. Could any provide a source for similar classes for individual students/learners?

Mark, you can still use Gracehill, but if I were you, I would gobstraightbto your local Apartment Association. There, put yourself on their job board if they offer this and take their Fair Housing class. Then, go to The Training Factor. This training organization does so much for individuals. They were also offering a scholarship... Not sure if that is still available.

We used LeaseHawk and she was able to take the test and get certified within an hour. It was $59 which is more than the local association or DPOR charges but by the time we factor in paying for travel it balanced out.

I'm glad the course is beneficial for you, Rose! Thanks for the kind words.

If you want more on the topic of Fair Housing, we - along with our friends at AppFolio - recorded a fantastic (and free) webinar with Nadeen Green in April of this year. She touched on emerging FH concerns including hoarding, domestic violence, LGBT status, and email profiling. Very interesting stuff!

The recording is available here:

Warmly,
Kara
