Topic: Apartment Measurement

I'm trying to figure out how "most buildings" measure their unit sizes. Do you use interior wall paint-to-paint measurements or BOMA measurements, which measure from the center of the dividing wall inward? It seems to make a pretty big difference (about 30-60 square feet per unit for our unit mix), so I am wondering how most of you do it? Any insight would be much appreciated!

If it is a out side unit. Measure from the outside corner to the center of the wall of the common wall to the next space or unit. front to back us outside corner to outside corner. In summery use outside corner to outside corner except where there is a common wall in which case you go to the center of the common wall

I use the property blue prints to calculate my measurements; if you are talking about knowing the right information to advertise. If for other reasons, then I may be able to give you a method which will be better. They have lasers for measuring and that is very accurate as well.

For painting, if you are using paint from the same location, you can have them come out do the measurements and at the same time get samples for your walls and trims, so that when paint is being ordered they will know up front your color scheme as well as how much they should be making for you. You can always check their measurements against what you have. I would also check your historical records to see if there is a difference as well.
