Hi all! I'm a Leasing agent in a Tax Credit community and am looking to expand my knowledge. I am a Tax Credit Specialist but would like to earn a credential (or 5). I've been doing a bit of research and have found both the NALP designation and the SHCM.

My request to you all: Which would you start with (considering there are no hidden fees that knock one of them out of my budget)? I am a leasing professional so the NALP makes sense, BUT if I want to grow, I should start learning the management side and earn my SHCM. Any thoughts?? Thanks for your help- I'm mentor-less at the moment and hoping MFI can help.

I would go with the one you feel offers the most training that you are weak in. For instance, if you're not very experienced or good at budgeting, go with the one that covers this in their classes.
