I'm thinking about taking the CAPS course and was wondering about the material and test. Is it a multiple choice test? Do you have to do a project? I want to be sure I know what I'm getting into so that I can make sure I have the time to study or do a project if necessary. Is the test the final day of class or taken at a later date? Thank you in advance!

Just finished the classes. Good content. Multiple choice and OPEN BOOK. No project. Take the test when you want. It is 2 hrs.

I had to reply based on Peter's response. As an Association Executive, please be advised that, although each NAA affiliate operates autonomously and there are some variances in exam administration, the CAPS exam IS NOT OPEN BOOK. If someone took the exam in an unprotected environment and used their text, that is in violation of the program's intent and the student acted inappropriately. Many affiliates choose to proctor all exams on a set schedule for this reason; in Houston, for example, all of our credential exams are taken in a secured proctored environment on a designated date and there is no access to the text. Also, the CAPS curriculum is in the middle of an extensive rewrite and will be launched in an all new version later this summer. The new exam is a more rigorous, two-part test that will require a proctored environment, similar to how CAM is now.

Ditto to what Emily Hilton said - this test is NOT open book. Never has been. CAPS is in the process of a full rewrite - watch for huge changes later this year.

I took the class back in 2016 and there was not a project to complete at that time. The test is multiple choice and it's recommended to take the exam ASAP after the course, so that the information is still fresh in your head.

Complete the practice test and study up on the math portion. That is what I did to pass on my first attempt ☺️

As a CAPS Facilitator, its more about being strategic than the tactics of managing. Investments and client stakeholders are different perspectives. They will assume you know CAM-type financial calculations. I am teaching it in Dallas and Austin this spring.

@susan Watson, currently going on my second attempt of the caps exam. Any assistance with calculating ROI on a 75% occupancy or within that realm of question if it rings any bells would be greatly appreciated.
