How are package volumes at your communities these days? Have they gone through the roof since COVID?

Yes through the roof. More packages then ever.

Have you changed how you handle them?

Jonas Bordo we are using Rise Buildings for package notification and have moved to a larger room with more cameras and fob controlled access.

We stopped accepting packages in March in our office. I’ve heard from carriers that the volume is crazy!

Yes we are, with the volume of people collecting packages or coming in looking for packages we decided it was unsafe to continue accepting packages. We worked from home for several months and when we returned we kept the same policy.

Overloaded with packages and we do not have package lockers ????

We also stopped accepting packages in March. The drivers are crazy busy!

Thank God we got Parcel Pending last August, so it’s not an issue we have to deal with right now. ????‍♀️

Oh yeah! But they're all left at people's doors, so I'm good.

Got Fetch so we don’t deal with any packages on this 576 unit community

We are not accepting packages in the office so zero!!

We are good. We have package locker system and asked all courriers to drop off over flow packages at resident's door. We do not accept them in the office and asked residents to instruct upon ordering where there packages are to be dropped off incase lockers are full. Our mail room looks nice and clean. =)

Yes...all over the place. Lobbies and package rooms look like warehouse.

IMHO, package lockers are going to prove to be insufficient. Home delivery trends are only going to continue to grow, across all demographics. Fetch is the best option for large communities right now. The package tsunami is going to continue to outpace existing storage options. Package companies need to come up with stronger solutions than lockers that Amazon drivers won’t use, that are insufficient for today’s volume and basically, an expensive and increasingly outdated solution. Just my two cents.

I agree with Lisa. With online shopping, there won’t be enough lockers to handle the load. At one community I had, on a regular day, we had over 100 packages easy. November to February upwards of 500-1000 a day. After we sold, the new owners installed lockers. The delivery companies just dump the packages in the foyers now.

Capacity is the thing...that's always what I wrestled with at my buildings with lockers. With ever-expanding package volumes, can you ever have enough lockers?

Peggy Lannery Crowley COVID19 has forced people who typically eschewed online shopping to embrace it. This is not going to change. Additional accommodations are potentially necessary for increased deliveries of food, groceries and other items. The companies that recognize the changes and adjust accordingly will be stronger than those who choose to see everything as ‘business as normal’. It’s changed, and our industry needs to change with it.

Since Covid we are not allowing packages in the office. Everything must be delivered to the door.

Best thing ever!! We don’t take them ???? they leave then at the door. It’s worked out great!

We don't accept packages either. However, there is another consequence to this. We are struggling with people not breaking down their boxes and our trash & recycling bins are frequently exceeding the rim.
