This is too wild I had to share. Credit to Charlie John for originally linking to it in the ShareSpace. Here is the original discussion: www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/l4...m_accessing_poolhot/

Wow. Even if it is not discriminatory, which i highly doubt, it is absolutely awful in every other way.
Why would you not be with your children anyway?? Hot tubs aren't that large. I would not want my child in a hot tub alone with a stranger of either sex, honestly.

Totally discriminatory and would cost this company a ton in legal fees and damages. Fair Housing would strike this policy down as well.

People never cease to amaze me. Could someone in this business be that ill informed ? Wait - don’t answer that.

Why...? Of all the options available to solve this problem, they went straight to discrimination.

Just seems like a more simple solution would have been a pool attendant and newly instituted amenity fee(s) NOT
discrimination.

Sounds like a questionable policy to enact for the property.

Why are they allowing minor children in the pool and hottub unsupervised?
Where are the parents?
I have so many questions.

I'm pretty sure every State has laws that require kids under a certain age (16 in Texas) to be accompanied by a parent. If you have things like that going on your community, you would have to be certifiably crazy to allow your child of any age to go to the pool without adult supervision. Do you really think that the pervert(s) assaulting kids at the pool is going to abide by this new policy??

To answer the original question, I am pretty sure that this violates every Fair Housing standard there is.

Why are children (seemingly) permitted w/o adult supervision, but Adult males require a female chaperone? That is some kind of messed up.

Kinda understand on the safety part but women can harm children just as well as
Men . I’d just go ahead and shut the whole thing down. Or add some more security
