I know there are those that want to be politically correct and say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. I am not trying to change anyones religious belief as I respect it, it does not mean I have to agree as I respect in those that do not agree with me.

There is one thing which I believe is the right thing to do and that is to share time with those who do not have a family or loved ones that care about them. They can be in a nursing home, childrens' home, a vet in the hospital for the holidays, or it may be a homeless family that fail upon hard times.

The ones that really need us will not be out in front of us as we will have to go find them. The best gift is that one act of kindness whether to a child or an adult! So, no matter your belief, there is no reason why one cannot give and act of kindness to their fellow man!

Hey Nate, let me start with saying that I really enjoy your blogs. This last one went some place that I didn't expect- it began with a statement on political correctness and ended with an invitation to go out into the world and seek out those who most need our kindness...both are issues that I can get behind.

On the first note, we should not be ashamed of wishing each other a Merry Christmas. I have never been offended by someone's Christianity or Judaism or Muslimism, etc. The assumption that someone could be offended by a wish of joy and happiness that is wrapped in our own spiritual beliefs is ridiculous. I am happy when Jews wish me a Happy Hanukkah and I don't share their faith. Hell, I'd enjoy a Happy Festivus if it was offered. This is one area to totally ignore political correctness (I ignore the other ones too).

And as to your 2nd issue, you are absolutely right. Each of us has differing responibilities and varying bank accounts and time allotments. One thing to remember, especially this time of year, is that while it may be easy to give food or dollars, sometimes the thing that means the most is the gift of time. A couple of hours with the neglected can make all the difference in their world. A simple game of checkers or listening to someone's stories can do as much as a hot plate of food. And it is amazing how much it recharges our own souls.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Christmas Eve and it is raining here in San Antonio. Um some nice home made beef stew and some corn bread. Then a little Gluehwein with spices. For those who do not know it Gluehwein is a wine that you heat up and it has spices in it and it came from Germany.

Fire place is going and it is nice. Tomorrow will be spending time with those Vets who are in the hospital and have no loved ones around and swap a war story or two and play some chess. Maybe even sneak a little spirits in for those who can take it and it will not harm them or go against doctor orders.

Merry Chtistmas all!
