All,

What are your thoughts on cardio equipment, specifically Peloton bikes? If you use them at your community, what do your residents think about them? Pros and cons? Thoughts on Expresso bikes vs Peloton bikes? Thanks in advance!

I LOVE MY PELOTON!!! I’m not a property manager and I’ve not used one at a site yet but your renters would love it!

I’m not a property manager either but I absolutely LOVE MY PELOTON! It’s the best investment we’ve ever made. If your looking to add stationary bikes to your property you can’t go wrong with them. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

I have 5 at my property. Residents love it! I suggest paying for 3-4 year upfront subscription.

We tested a couple of Peloton Bikes at one property and they were so successful and used so much that we dedicated an entire room to Peloton bikes at the next property we built. You can see photos at thecollectivedc.com/photos/#ftg-set-the-collective-amenities

Additionally, we added a few to our gym at the corporate office and they are the most used pieces of equipment in the gym.

While new releases of equipment, technology and residents interests evolve, currently we are suggesting use of Peloton bikes in all of our clients fitness areas. They tend to have a certain allure vs. a generic spin bike; they are interactive, have brand recognition and have a bit of a cult following. We also suggest highlighting the particular brand in our clients digital and marketing collateral.

The brand seems to have the "Starbucks factor" right now and our clients have reported that the Peloton bikes and treadmills are the most used equipment.

Hope this helps.

Hi Holli,

Thanks for responding regarding the Peloton bikes - looks like we are going that direction and getting the Pelotons too. Do you mind if I confirm a couple of things with you? I'm not familiar with the bikes, but from what I've researched, each bike needs a subscription and riders then create a Peloton profile and can use their profile on the bikes. Is that how it works at your community? Also, do you mind sharing what a subscription per bike runs?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Ginger,

Yes. That's right. Each bike has a subscription. Residents create their own accounts and can use any bike. Some residents have opted to pay for their own subscription in order to get different types of classes {yoga, bootcamp, running, etc) streamed via the app to their phone....but that is completely optional.
