I am looking for new ideas for a January resident event. Since it is just after the holidays I would like to find something simple and easy for our residents. Any ideas?

Hi Amy,
Two options for you:

1) We have a webinar next week with Mindy Williams called, " 21+ Inexpensive Ways to Celebrate the Season with Residents, Increase Your Sense of Community and Instantly Gain Referrals "

2) Have you checked out ResidentEvents.com ?

Hi Amy, have you thought of pot luck for your Residents? Snowman building contests are fun, too, but only if you live in an area where there is snow. My favorite activity has always been a Luminary Walk. The Luminary Walk culminates with a Hot Chocolate Party and it is such a beautiful event.

One event that I've done at a few properties with success is a New Year's Resolution Fair... I invited local business to set up booths to help residents with their goals for the new year. Some ideas:

Personal fitness trainers
Professional organizers
Financial planners
Job search/resume consultants
Representatives from local career colleges
Dog obedience schools (if you allow pets)
Avon/Mary Kay

Make sure each representative has a FREE take-away for your residents (home budget worksheets, sample one-week work-out plan, etc.)

We have had a cookie exchange the last two winters that has been fairly successful. We will have one again this year.

Each attendee brings two dozen cookies to trade, we set them all out on a buffet table and provide bags, then we sit and visit and for a bit before "shopping" for cookies to take home.
