I bought carne and pollo asada and maintenance bbq'd it. Got rice, beans pre done then it's salsa tortillas guacamole and yum! We made 2 taco plates and served about 70 people till they were stuffed with tons of leftovers for about $250. Add some decor and music and it was a blast! The residents loved that we cooked the entire meal and served!

We had “Taste of Traditions” this was an annual event at our community. We would invite local restauranteurs to set up a table on our pool deck and lanai to give out samples to our residents and promote their restaurant. This was a huge success. Not only did we have Mom and pop establishments, we had large chains such as, IHOP, KFC, World of Beer, ABC wine and spirits. Bo, jangles. We even had Costco out there. It was great.

Food truck Mondays- we have a different food truck come out each Monday from 5-8pm. Promotes local business. Residents don’t have to come home and cook on a Monday night and it doesn’t cost us a thing. Prospects love the idea when they come out because most other communities aren’t doing it, gives us that edge up in leasing too.

If you do not mind sharing or sending me info privately, can I ask if you had the backpacks and supplies donated or if you supplied them? If they were donated may I ask by whom? The reason that I am asking is we have had a very generous donor for the last 4 years. However, the past couple of times that we have asked about the donations (they donate other things besides school supplies) that they have been providing they seemed very hesitant and once even accused me of asking for more than usual when I had actually asked for about 10 less than the previous time. I am not trying to complain because they have done a lot for our residents, but if they do not have enough or do not wish to donate to us anymore then I would like to find someone else that can. Our residents love the Back to School Bash we throw every year. This is our most popular event and everyone that comes usually walks away with something. We have gift cards donated. We buy the backpacks to put the school supplies in. It is expensive for a parent. Especially if they have more than one child. We want to help if we can.
