Anyone who has a smoke free property, do you have a designated spot or not?

We do not have a designated area. They can smoke on their patio but not even in their garage.

We fine $250 when caught so I've killed it on extra income but my residents pay a lot of money for it to be smoke free.

I worked at a smoke free property and you could smoke in your car while on the property and that was it. Anything else and you were fined.

Our community is 100% smoke free. Residents and guests can’t smoke within 20 feet of the building.

Did they really follow the rules? What if the smoker wasn’t a resident and you weren’t sure what apartment they were associated with

We are on 13 acres and all of it is 100% non-smoking and I love it! They have to go out to the city street if they want to smoke.

We have a perimeter around the whole community: 30 feet from any multifamily residence by ordinance. It's nice having the law on our side, even though it's not really enforced by police, etc.

No where on property is the way it should be! Residents knew when they signed the lease that it was a no smoking property, obide by the rules or move on.

Wow. I need to research the laws in my state and municipality. I did not know you could have a Non-smoking property for full time residences. I knew temporary ones like Hotels could.

I think you really need a designated spot. A large majority of people still smoke.

We are a smoke free community and yes when it was implemented 2 1/2 years ago, I had no choice but to
set up a specific designated smoking area. It has been fairly effective although you still have your
violators!!

We are smoke free on all properties in our portfolio. No designated areas; residents have to go out to city sidewalks.

The last two lease-ups we did were 100% smoke free - no smoking anywhere on the property. It worked great! Residents absolutely loved it. No cigarette butts laying around. Once in a while you get a violator, but you treat it as any lease violation. I would only do 100% smoke-free in the future.
