Topic: What are some other ideas since our wine coolers under the island have been discontinued?

Everyone here always has such great ideas. I’m asking for opinions. I had wine coolers under the island and they have been discontinued. It’s such a specific sized space I’m finding it impossible to find another wine cooler that is a reasonable price to replace it with that fits the same size give or take 2-3 inches. With that being says we’ve started to think about other ideas. The sliding racks for trash would be great but I think they would be inconvenient in the sense you had to lift the bin out to change cans to put out for valet trash and in addition they would be easily broken. I would also need a cabinet face to put on it. What would you guys do to this space? My budget is less than $250 per space. I’m currently with 5 residents without. I figured I would take them from vacant one bedrooms and replace them in the two since that what my model shows.

I think a shelf right under the outlet with a hole cut out in the back for cords would be cute! They can always put cookbooks there, and plug in their Amazon echo/Google home so it is more discrete

A lift rack for kitchen stand mixer? Mini wine rack?

I’d say just put a shelf there for open shelving. Maybe $20 each if you do it in house.

My parents put one into their kitchen island and it has a water catch area. Sort of like a giant Keurig. They just fill it as needed

Use it as an opportunity to create a coffee station tor the resident that would have a similar effect as a Wow Fridge. For example, part of the $250 could be spent on a mini Keurig. Set the Keurig on the counter, and fill the nook with re-useable shelving stocked with coffee.

Just the racks and I like that plug for a small appliance shelf on the top.

You can still use this space for storing wine bottles, just room temp. Have your maintenance guys cut some lattice to fit in the opening front and halfway back.

Install one of those lift shelves that they can put appliances like blenders, juicers, stand mixers, coffee pots, etc. Meal Preppers, bakers, and margarita lovers will go nuts for it.

Spice racks... slide out spice racks, it's always a question of where to put and if to many spices can clutter a cabinet.

Add shelving or racks for cookie sheets or occasionally used crockpots, mixers, or large platers and bowls.

Cut a circular hole in the top and let the residents drop trash in. Had one of these in the first house I built and it was amazing

Just leave it open and use your words to sell it as a trash can cubby. Sometimes you don’t have to spend any money to sell something. If they ask about the electrical outlet, tell them it’s for a handivac (at their own cost)
