Tell me your best excuse for a rent concession

Drive occupancy, renewal incentive and as much as i hate doing it concession for a MAJOR incovenience IF and oy of we could have prevented something.

Market demands and comps.

Parking lot has a few inches of standing water after a flash flood.

They dropped their car keys down the elevator shaft and it was our fault the space between the elevator and the wall was large enough for the keys to fall through.

They get the elevator company bill for retrieval, correct?

Yes if we are billed, however, I have had techs near the area come grab them at no cost

“I’ve lived here for 6 months and have never paid late. If I renew, I deserve the same rate and my first month free. Other apartments are doing it. How bad do you wanna keep me?”

Residents AC went out. Apartment is 660sqft and we brought in a portable AC the same day. (Mind you it was completely unnecessary because it had been snowing). Because we couldn’t get the vendor out to replace - due to the SNOW! They demanded a concession because they were paying for central ac not a portable ac unit. Her argument as well “the portable ac unit is in my living room”. It’s PORTABLE and can easily roll from room to room.

I'm a long standing resident here ,I pay my rent on time and I never cause any trouble. "Yes Mary, see we have only been open for 2 1/2 years and the people who don't pay on time and are a problem, they don't get a renewal offer, they get a non renewal notice".

Oh, I forgot, "The construction on the street car lines is really loud, how am I going to be compensated for my inconvenience? I think 1 month rent should do it."

Power outage made them miss Dr. Phil

In July I had a resident ask me to waive the late fee since the bank was closed on the 4th. Rent was due on the 1st.

Your soda machine took my dollar and I am going to deduct it off my rent

I lost my job so you should concess my rent until the end of my lease or I find a job. If you don't you'll be hearing from my attorney.

I refuse to allow your preventative pest control vendor to treat my apartment. You need to reimburse me the pest control fee.

Why haven’t they cleared the snow between the cars? The plow left a lot of snow behind my car too. And it’s icy.
