Topic: I am looking to increase my knowledge on Property financials

Hey! I am looking to increase my knowledge on Property financials and accounting, monthly PM reports and budgeting.

I want to be promoted and accounting/reporting is the area I’m weak in. Does anyone have recommendations for classes, books, videos or anything that would be able to assist?

My local association has a class on property financials in July, but I’d like to get started asap. And the company I work for doesn’t have training for this sort of thing…

The NAA has classes you can take even certificates you can achieve depending on the position your going for

They may have online courses. That’s the option I went with for my CAPS. If not, there are books to help study for the CAM you could use for tips until the course. Good luck!

Check out the NAA website. The CAM course is offered virtually as well and financials is a module within this designation.

Are you currently assistant or leasing?

I’m a full time assistant and part time property manager. 2 different properties.

They needed someone to fill in for the property manager position and I volunteered

Gotcha. Do you happen to have a coworker you can reach out to to walk you through some of these items. I was lucky to have someone kind enough to do this for me and their knowledge was invaluable.

LinkedIn Learning is a great resource for free courses, and down the road I’d highly recommend taking your CAM course.

Webinar Wednesday by multifamily insiders - they have a property financials course coming up for $30 or somewhere around there and it’s taught by Alexandra Jackiw who is an incredible presenter

IREM offers several strong ones. They aren’t cheap but they have 75% scholarships. I would look into it!
