I'd think the only time it would effect the position is I'd they were promoting. I'd refer to the companies fraternizing/ social media policy and let them know that there is to be no promoting or adding of residents on social media. I think if they kept it completely separate it wouldn't be a problem.

All things being equal, I’m probably hiring the person who didn’t tell me about their page. But of course the candidate doesn’t need to know that.
