Hi! I was wondering what employee benefits your company offers that makes them stand out. In one of the NAA classes it was mentioned that someone is offering pet bereavement. How is your company getting creative with benefits?
Thanks!

For me it’s about support and not restricting when we take time off. If I want to use my vacation days one at a time, we can. If we want to take a vacation day over a holiday.. we can. Our management team, all the way up to our director will cover for you. In todays technological age, I no longer see a value of staff being available in person 100 percent of the time in person. Minimally, closing the office at least one or two day a week (allowing for appointment only, if needed) to allow staff to work on other projects without interruption goes a long way in balancing their work load.

My company offers pet bereavement, pet insurance, beer on tap, wine, casual dress code, medical, dental, vision insurance 100% paid for by the company, fully vested 401k on day 1, all benefits on day 1, not 30, 60, or 90 days after hire... shall I continue?

In addition to pto/sick days, my company added a 1 floating holiday per quarter. It is use or lose though. Since they had already offered 1, this benefit basically added 3 more days off per year.

Unlimited PTO is probably our biggest one. We also selected 4 Fridays this summer to close the property at 2 and release everyone paid for the rest of the day.

PTo is a big one for us and then lots of flexibility! Company culture is everything isn't it!

Our company gave all hourly employee's an extra 40 hours of leave when Covid first happened. Manager didn't get it but all hourly employees did. Covid or not. I thought it was a pretty slick perk they did. It was sort of for mental health days/stress and dealing with kids out of school and stuff. We still got 40 hours of covid time too if we got sick.

Wow! what company? We did an acquisition one time and the old company had the beer on tap and did resident happy hour 4-6 at the pool. Had a little serving window at the clubhouse heading out to the pool. Of course it was the first thing that went away when our new company took over.

In addition to all the standard benefits, health, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, 401k, and PTO, we also get two wellness days a year to use for whatever we want. We also get two paid days per year to do community service (which could include playing in a charity golf tournament). We will also close early on some Fridays before a holiday weekend. Also relaxed our dress code, especially in summer when it's really hot and humid.

Our company gives their employees a sabbatical after 10 years of service and then every 5 years after that. On top of your normal vacation/sick time this means you get 6 weeks paid time off at once. We also get a tenure day for 3 years, 5 years and then 2 tenure days for 10 years and every 5 years after that. They also gave 40 hours (sometimes more if needed) emergency covid time for ones who were out sick with covid or had to stay home due to being exposed to it. it was in addition so you did not have to use your own sick/vacation time. This past year they also gave us 1 week paid as a Christmas bonus which was new and amazing!
