Need advice please, how do you get dog urine smell out of a unit. We have painted walls, ceilings, pulled up flooring and quarter round and tac strip and sealed floors with kilz, put down new vinyl. Ran air deodorizer in unit overnight last night. Running ozone machine in tonight. Still smell it! Help please!

Were the floors treated with an enzyme killer before they were sealed? The seal wont take if the urine wasnt first neutralized!

If there was any urine behind the baseboards you may need to do a flood cut. We had this happen once and the urine had went behind the baseboards and the drywall absorbed it. It wasn't until we did the flood cut that it went away.

Sometimes you need to locate where the urine is. Ive had to pull and replace tack strip where urine has soaked in. Another thing weve had to do is cut out the drywall where the concentration of urine is. Like cat spray etc. Weve even had to replace doors etc because the doors and bifold doors soak the smell in the wood. Then after all that is done the entire unit needs scrubbed down top to bottom, possibly including replacing linno and carpet as that holds the smell. Then u can try an ozone

Elaine Bishop the smell must be coming feom somewhere else. Maybe a section of drywall that needs to be cut out. We even had where the 2 x 4 wall plate was soaked in urine along with tje front door to the apartment the cat sprayed. We had to replace the entire front door.

Elaine Bishop We used that and had to replace floorboards and everything, even then it was tough, after a few months it all went away but it was a while. I would enter the unit and the urine smell would stay like, in my nose for days. I am sorry you are having to deal with that.

RestorAir machine is the answer. Run for 29 hours with the AC fan set to on. If the smell isn’t gone, it will be isolated to whatever the source is. Remedy the source and run another 24 hours. You’ll be good to go from there.

Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer. Get the gallon jugs with a battery powered sprayer and spray everything. I had to do that at my house when I moved in. It had soaked into the concrete basement floor. I soaked it with Nature's Miracle and let it sit overnight. Did it again. Spread vinegar all over it and let it dry. Then used Kilz stuff that seals in floor. Not all Kilz is created equal. It's really strong smelly stuff, not like the Latex. After that it has been okay. On wood floor I just used Nature's Miracle and then Kilz sealer. That worked for me and the smell was very strong when I first moved in.

Kilz will not get the smell out you need to have a carpet company seal the floor with a special chemical just for pets it will neutralize the odor you will need an Ozone machine for at least 48 hours. Then you go get coffee beans put them through the unit as they will help absorb the smell I would get a product called angry Orange you can by on Amazon this product is awesome. It will take you at least 14 days

All of that did not happen in a few accidents. Report the owners to your county animal control for them to do a welfare check on the dog at whatever forwarding address they gave you. The owner clearly is not allowing the dog outside to relieve itself, and no animal should be forced to live in it’s own excrement! People should not own pets if they are going to abuse them. Sad.

I read the comments. We had a dog....Urine heavy Urine smell...best thing ever is a sealant that any paint company, lowes, home depot sales. We did not pull up anything and we did not cut out drywall as many comments suggested (we tried the sealant first before doing that) on the walls and floor. It is very expensive for just a gallon..we needed a 5 gallon bucket. This was in 2017 and cost was $200 plus back then. IT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED! We then painted the walls and replaced the padding and carpet and the smell completely gone! Unbelievable but it worked! FYI before that we spent a lot of $$$ wasting our time on things that worked for a day or so. This lasted and really worked! Sorry i do not remember the name but if you go to tge stores mentioned, they will know. Do not buy tge cheap products...Good luck...

It's likely seeped through to the subfloor. Pull up all flooring and see if the subfloor is stained - if so, remove it. Covering with deodorizers and kilz will never get rid of the smell.
