We see so much negative, let’s talk the good!
What is something, outside of a raise, that your manager/boss did to make you feel extra appreciated and valued?
I’m trying to brainstorm unique ways to show our on site team a little extra love that’s not a pizza party equivalent

Recognize everyone in front of the group for a specific contribution. It doesn’t need to be monetary. Sometimes just hearing “hey you did this, it made a difference, and we really appreciate it” is worth more than any gift card to special treat. It’s more personalized too than something monetary.

Alex Mann I agree with this! I get random cards from corporate or flowers from the PM and it’s so sweet.

Spending lunch breaks together sometimes. Setting out time for her employees so she can listen to whatever they have to talk about.

Joanna Godin we do team lunches all the time and we’ve all worked together for years, but this past year we’ve had more, and I can honestly say I’ve gotten to know and appreciate my team recently more than ever. It’s good to spend that time together. Once it’s so frequent, you start to relax more and talk more about your true feelings and issues and it’s been great for all of us. We started playing games in our morning meetings or team lunches, and it’s hilarious and so much fun.

She gave me a massage gift card for after I had my baby ! That was super sweet of her , and she let me wear sweatpants the last 2 days Honestly , she’s there for me all the time. Anytime I’ve needed her , she has always answered the phone or answered my text. I think that’s super important , not only is she a manager but she’s also the person I learn the most from.

As a District Manager, I pick 2 of my employees every month, and I send a small gift card to Wegmans, Starbucks, Dunkin' donuts, with a note that explains why I appreciate them. This is not from my company, this is from me personally to my team member. Now, they don't have to be superstars, they could have learned something new, they could be struggling, they could have done something amazing for another team member or maybe a resident. It's not any one specific thing, it depends on what strikes me as a win for that month.I hope my team knows how much I appreciate them. The site staff are the ones that hold down the property and make it work. They are on the front lines and have one of the hardest jobs in this industry.

My company does a weekly meeting on Microsoft Teams. We talk about our week, recognize exemplary staff members, and help each other resolve problems.

It may be silly but, just sitting down and talking with them and telling them what great employees they are and how much they are appreciated. A lot of times we think we are just a number…..it makes us feel expendable. Knowing how much we are appreciated is comforting.

HAND WRITTEN note of appreciation...sent to their home via US mail. Could include a gift card if you feel like your words aren't valuable enough.
