Wow, this is a great site! I am new to the multifamily industry. I work for a vendor and have worked for the same company for over 6 years. However I am new to this division. I started Nov 1 and attended the brainstorming conference and learned a ton. I would love to hear from other vendors on tips for selling to the multifamily industry. Any and all advice is appreciated. I would also love to hear from the properties as well.

I have already shadowed a friend of mine who is a leasing agent and I was blown away by how much he does daily. A lot more than I expected.

Thanks in advance! I hope to contribute as much as possible to the Multifamilyinsiders community.

Feel free to call me, I'm a vendor and can help you out.Multifamily is a huge business, but a small world. You will soon find this out. I knew nothing about the industry when I was handed a stack of marketing materials and told to go sell,...vendors in this industry need to help each other out!

You will meet some great people along the way, most of the people in Multifamily are cool and will have your back if you provide a good service and keep your word.

there are some definite no no's

Welcome, Ryan, and it was good talking with you yesterday! I'm sure you know a lot of this, but I'll share everything I've found to be important:

1) Establish consistency in your networking. Since the industry is very tight-knit, there are situations where it is hard to break in, but I've found that is often due to people not wanting to take the time getting to know someone if they are just going to go to one meeting and then never come back. So I've found it important to consistently go to networking events so they start to see you as a "regular" and worth getting to know.

2) Make friends with other suppliers. They already have a client list and can help you break in and make introductions.

3) On this site in particular, I think I remember hearing that you were thinking about blogging. Well, I would also take the time to comment on other people's blogs and participate here in the discussion area. That shows people that you are wanting to be a part of the community as a whole.

Thanks, Ryan, but it's really the community that makes MFI so special. And you are now a fellow Insider, so I should be thanking you for helping to make this place great :)

Looking forward to working with you!
