Be completely honest and straightforward when speaking with job prospects.

Give them all the facts so they can make educated decisions.

The absolute worst thing you can do is to oversell the job.

If you choose to go that route, this is what you should expect once the candidates end up taking the job:

A short lived experience.

A reputation tarnished beyond repair-yours.

Kristi Fickert You make great points! I have always worked for companies with high standards and stretch goals and I'm always very up front about that with folks. We have a ton of fun, but work really hard and I usually frame this up in conversations with candidates as "We want to be the best and being the best isn't easy, it requires grit and determination and sometimes that means we work early or stay late or do things that aren't in our wheelhouse..." etc. etc. I do think you can equally get someone excited about the "why" behind why they should work with you while still balancing expectations and transparency about the role itself. Thanks for sharing!
