Thought Leadership Moment - Do I care?

Thought Leadership Moment - Do I care?

elephant-in-tree-smaller Thought Leadership Moment - Do I care?

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” – John C. Maxwell

In this life of busy-ness and the pursuit of being on the top, are we taking the time to truly care? And even if we are, how can we achieve true trust and add value to the people around us on a daily basis?

This takes Intentionality.

This takes Purpose.

This takes Thought.

And the outcome is definitely worth the effort!

If you climb the ladder of success without caring for your people, you will find yourself alone at the top. However, if you take the time to nurture and add value to those around you, you will find a much different atmosphere in your success.

So how do we do this?

Start with asking yourself these questions:

  1. Would I like me if I worked for me?

If so, do I know the birthday of those who work for me? Their favorite food?

If not, what is one thing I can work on to improve?

  1. If I asked my team for feedback on my leadership skills, am I able to listen and not be offended, but actually learn from what they have to say?

  2. Do I have the guts to actually ask each team member….What can I do to help you grow in your career? And then see if you can do it?

Next, get Creative! And get Confident!

✅ Download the form ‘favorite things’ in the file section. Or create your own and then have your team fill it out.

✅ Show your appreciation of them with items from their list as a surprise.

✅ JUST TELL THEM! This might be the most simplistic sentence but I’m sure you won’t be surprised to find out that on a survey by Authentic Recognition, 29% of employees were receiving no recognition of any kind.

✅ Speak life into your teams. Encouraging words to boost their self-confidence. This is free. Do it now.

But Kiki, I don’t have time for this…

But Friend…you can’t afford not to…

Even if you have to put a reminder in your calendar daily or weekly to accomplish what you’ve read above, you will see such astounding results in your teams. I promise. They will be forever grateful for your kind intentionality. So many times, all we need is an advocate on our side. You can be this, I encourage you to be this, continue to be this, and you will see true change around you.

And then, when your team knows how much you care, they will want to learn from you. They will become your biggest advocate, your vision carriers. 😊

Kiki I read this today as I was preparing to post it and found myself wishing I had a boss like you years ago when I was a young professional and working for people who clearly didn't care. I remember checking my voicemail messages when I got back from my destination wedding and one was from my boss. It said: "I know you asked for the week off but if it's not for anything important can you come in a few days early. We are really short staffed. Also, are you back this week or next? I can't remember". I had taken the week off to get married in Costa Rica and he didn't even remember something HUGE like that! As you can imagine, I didn't stay long in that job! This was such an informative post Kiki and I bet your teams LOVE working for you!

WOW!!! just wow...I hope you had a beautiful wedding and a fabulous time. I agree, that "boss" was not worthy of your time or commitment. I'm glad you've found a MUCH better atmosphere now with people who care!! Thank you for sharing!
