Waffle House is a favorite guilty pleasure for many of us. (I love a sausage, egg, and cheese grit bowl. Drop your favorite dish in the comments.)
They have iconic subway tile on the walls with a black and white checkerboard border as decor. I have it seared in my brain from the many visits I have across multiple states to the "awful waffle" over the years. Can you picture it?
So in your rental units many a customer has served up their own breakfast + dinner = "Briner." And if they are doing so, how awesome for you to have a backsplash tile included in their kitchen as an amenity for easy clean up?
Here's a few ideas to take on that iconic subway tile in your next kitchen unit. It is an affordable backsplash to delight your consumer. Check out a few of my favorite subway install patterns in the gallery below for kitchen, baths, and floors.
Scattered, smothered and covered?
How about stacked, staggered, and herringbone?
*Stacked is an easy way to modernize the kitchen.
*Vertical stack gives a modern vibe. Nice clean lines.
*Horizontal stack has a mid-century modern wink.
*Staggered is a classic look. Pro-tip: Make sure it's done on the third. IKYKIK
*For an "A property" a herringbone ushers in quiet luxury.
And if you're thinking about that classic icon, checkerboard style, look no further… It can also come in a matte or a polish finish. This never goes out of style. Perfect for a kitchen or bathroom.
Next time you're getting a patty melt at Waffle House, spy with your little eye, these fun traditional subway looks that are retro, vintage, and classic. Y'all come back now, ya hear!
