I would love advice from all of the brilliant brains in the group.
My son moved into his first post-college apartment in a property professionally managed by a great company here in Denver.
However, there is a resident who lives above him who seems to be having some sort of mental break...he literally stomps and screams at the top of his lungs for hours. When my son calls me, I can hear the guy screaming and stomping through the phone. It goes on...I would love advice from all of the brilliant brains in the group.
It goes on for hours...from about noon until 1 or 2 am.
It's really disruptive and upsetting to my son...I can't even imagine what it would be like to live across the hall or right next door to this resident.
I've told my son to not confront the other resident as he may not be stable. My son has contacted the leasing team and manager (who is new as of two weeks ago), and was told to contact the police, which he did on two occasions.
The situation is not getting any better...I'm in the marketing side of the biz and am not sure how things work when there's a situation like this. What options are available to my son?
He absolutely hates where he lives because of this resident.
Could he:
> Move out without penalty because of the extreme stress?
> Request to move to another unit?
> Somehow get the other guy to move out?
> Call the RM?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Heather

I have a gorgeous clubhouse! The sheer beauty of the places I have been able to work at is one of my favorite things about residential property management. Before I started in this field, I worked a variety of odd jobs in college and right after college. I worked in ugly cubicles. 🙃 I'm budgeted for two clubhouse cleans a month but I stress clean 😆. I have been able to keep it to one time a month and I really need it for things I am not capable o ...

In the past couple of weeks I ran a poll on LinkedIn and you all were kind to share your thoughts on common misconceptions about leasing professionals. The option with the most votes indicates that many believe leasing professionals "just show apartments".
I'm now trying to go deeper and understand why this is. What could be causing this misconception, and how could we as an industry fix it. Would love any thoughts from folks in this fine...In the past couple of weeks I ran a poll on LinkedIn and you all were kind to share your thoughts on common misconceptions about leasing professionals. For those of us in sales, whether it is on the supplier side or leasing apartments, it is extremely easy to get into the trap of thinking about our own needs in the transaction. So much of our life can be wrapped up in that sale opportunity, from job success to literally being able to pay our bills through commissions. So it's no wonder that we can sometimes fall into the trap of thinking about the transaction from our own lens, about what our goa ...
Anyone familiar with doing March Madness brackets as a community event? My residents has asked to do one and we would like to participate but don’t know should we print them out and give it to residents or try and make them digital. What has been anyone else’s experience with this? Thanks for your help in advance.
Hello! For those using centralized assistant managers, I'm interested in your implementation approach. How did you manage the surge in resident issues previously addressed by assistant managers? Did residents call a central office, or did you delegate more responsibilities to leasing agents, or...

Hello, I'm your new hire. Now What? What is the first impression your new employees are getting? We're taught in property management that first impressions matter. ALOT. Why?? Because they do. In apartment leasing, we get 3 seconds to make a positive first impression. We stand, smile, shake hands, often in million dollar clubhouses that are set up and staged to impress. Because first impressions are that important. In these times o ...
