A tenant left this in a mail room over night.

You never know what you are going to have on your hands when a resident returns an apartment to you!

A resident came into one of our property management offices today and had a lot to say, a lot of comments, and a lot of suggestions. After each one he laid one of these on the desk over and over again.

"A tenant today asked me to drive them to the party store to get a money order so they could pay their rent. I drove them and waited outside, they were taking awhile so I went in to see what was up. The guy working the counter said the tenant came in the party store and then ran out the back of the party store." - Beal leasing agent Lol. Property Management. Lol. She got us good.

One of the greatest mysteries in property management, the lone shoe. So many questions, no answers to be found, but you come across them more often than you would think.

When people ask me what the best part of real estate and property management is I tell them that the best part is it is never boring because something new happens each and every day. I get to say "wow that has literally never happened before" and "well there is a first time for everything" just about every day.
Well today someone broke this window, crawled through the dangerous chards of glass, stole our toilet without tools leaving the water...When people ask me what the best part of real estate and property management is I tell them that the best part is it is never boring because something new happens each and every day. Well today someone broke this window, crawled through the dangerous chards of glass, stole our toilet without tools leaving the water flooding the apartment, but broke the toilet tank so they only escaped with the bottom half, unlocked the apartment, and walked out the front door of the building.
If you see a man running down the street with half a toilet, let me know.

I love (hate) property management! Just when you sit back and say, look I have been doing this for 22 years, there isn't possible something I haven't seen before, I have literally seen it all.

Then, a PM client emailed me this "a tenant at Prospect cut through the coin dryer metal to make it work for free and covered his damage real nicely!"

Wow!

Young Innocent New Property Manager: Stewart, why would the resident install this post in their living room? Is there something wrong with the ceiling where they thought they had to hold it up or something? Should I remove it or do we need to keep it there for the new resident?

Facebook Marketplace Fail!

I went to facebook marketplace to advertise a 1bdrm apartment for rent at 207 Water, Brooklyn, MI for $820/mo + utilities. I put up my advertisement and within an hour had 100s of people trying to rent the apartment. This was very unusual in sleepy Brooklyn, MI. The messengers were also unusually urgent "I want to meet you right now to rent this" and "I will pay 2 years up front right now" that sort of thing.

According to rentcafe.com the average rent for a 633sf 1bdrm in Brooklyn, NY is $3,604/mo. Show more
