I am new to the Apartment Real Estate Worls and I am looking for ways to expand my knowledge. My office is based in Harrisburg, PA, but I am willing to travel to learn.

Can anyone direct me to classes, conferences, magizines or associations?

This would be very helpful.

Thank you all!

Well put Heather. I'm looking forward to New Orleans as well!

Carrie - hopefully we'll see you in Houston for Brainstorming! You'll bring back a lot of valuable information and your owner will be pleased.

1 - If the apartment all stars come to speak within a two hour drive of where you live, drive there and see them. They're awesome.

2- Set your money aside for NAA in New Orleans next year. And if you've got student properties you should seriously consider the NAA Student Housing Conference.

3- Try to get involved in your local apt association more. Sit on a committee and try to drive the quality of training/speaking events up. Nothing changes, and no one hands you opportunities if you don't try to create them yourself!

Dollars are tight with everyone this year, but an investment in education and training is NEVER a bad investment. Even if the conference is terrible, all it takes is one good idea to bring you 60 leases.

Thanks for all of the information! Brainstorming conference will more than likely be on my schedule this November....y'alls feedback definitely helped sway the opinions of my owner.

Any other quality/ useful education opportunities for those of us new to the Multi-Family marketing world?

Carrie,

I've gone to Brainstorming each of the last few years and it has been one of my favorite conferences! I really enjoy the round table format for discussions, the education sessions, and the enthusiasm and spirit that all of the participants bring. I'd definitely recommend attending and I think you'll find it well worth the time and money invested. I'd be happy to discuss it further if you'd like... Just let me know.
