Yes! I used to give that to the new move ins along with toilet paper and
And soap. Believe it or not people did appreciate it. (The maintenance team certainly appreciated it)

I buy a $5 basket from Walmart then go to the dollar store and fill it with TP, Paper Towels, Dishwashing Liquid, Toilet Bowl cleaner, Disinfecting wipes, Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener (we have washers & dryers in our units) and I get a set of pot holder, wash cloth and dishtowel that matches their personality and include a gift card. It goes over extremely well and I have less than $20 invested in it. They tell their friends about it though and we have had referrals because of it. (I have always cleaned an apartment before I moved in just because I don't know who cleaned it and their standards and obviously the cleaning product is in the other location and not handy at all so it seems to work)
Totally agree with this! I love to do something nice, however, it is not an expense that is really budgeted for so we have to make do with what we do for that month. I wish our main office saw more value in this and encouraged it. We have a "marketing" provider that was doing branded move in gifts but there are never in stock anymore and were pretty pricey. I would buy a few here in there when the marketing $ was in the budget or if there was a wiggle room.
