In my experience, during the turn process maintenance will cycle both washer and dryer to ensure correct operation and verify cleanliness in a basic fashion. This verification entails the simple "looks good" and "sniff" test.
A change might need to be made to the above process if you are using a front loader washing machine in unit. (My communities in the past all used top loaders.) Many of the front loader instructions state that the door must be kept open so that the door seal doesn't deteriorate when the appliance is not in use. This damage may not be evident with the simple test and may require a more thorough inspection based upon appliance design. (Check manufacturer recommendations)
As a front loader washing machine doesn't air out and dry effectively even with the door open it would be a good idea to run a sanitizing cycle as a part of the make ready process to ensure that the new resident starts with a clean machine.
What are your housekeeping protocols when turning a unit for the provided insuite washer/dryer?
Do you just run a bleach load for the washer? Do buy buy the cleaning tabs?
What about the dryer? Just a cleaning of the inside and lint trap and output?
Putting together a housekeeping checklist and we don't have any properties with in-suite washer/dryers and need suggestions on how to handle this part!
