I don't know if I remember my first day on the job, but I do remember quite vividly visiting the community for my interview. I remember it being absolutely gorgeous and it was incredibly exciting to be there. A few years later, looking back, I compared that first experience to how the community began to change - I got to know all the negatives of the community. I was all too familiar with that one unit that just wouldn't lease. I was definitely all too familiar with that one resident who constantly called to complain, and me, being the new guy, got the joy of sitting through them all. And what that all showed me is that it is too easy to get jaded, that we often forget about the joy of that first day. And frankly, that first day joy is what our prospects can often feel, so it's important to not let our own view on the community pass across to our prospects who are excited to see around the community for the first time.
